Within the United States Department of Defense (DoD), the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office sought to accelerate the pace of artificial intelligence adoption and speed to use in the field. To that end, WF and the DoD created a member-based portal that allows tech teams to participate in the open contract award process that had historically required deep government contracting experience and miles of red tape.

Following the success of the initial Tradewind solution, other branches of the US DoD expressed interest in similar solutions. Partnering with ARI (Advanced Research Institute), WF built a marketplace that allows multiple branches of the DoD to acquire solutions directly from vendors across a wide variety of applications. These include early warning systems, threat interception and leap ahead technologies.
